Umrah Guide for Women
Anyone who is Muslim and meets certain criteria can go for Umrah. Unmarried women under 45 years of age can perform this pilgrimage accompanied by their mahram. If the woman is married, her mahram is her husband, and if she is single, her mahram is her father. Women under 45 who are single and whose fathers have passed away can go for Umrah accompanied by their brothers. When women go for Umrah, they do not wear a special garment for ihram like men. For women to enter ihram, it is sufficient for them to have their shoes, clothes, and veils. Women who choose to cover their faces with a niqab must prevent this niqab from touching their face when visiting the Kaaba with an Umrah tour. For this, the person must place an accessory similar to a hat under the niqab to prevent this contact.
Menstruation During Umrah Visit
A woman who experiences menstruation during her Umrah visit cannot perform the Tawaf al-Qudum if she has entered ihram at the time of her period. The person must perform her worship after waiting for her period to end. For the Umrah tour, which can be performed at any time of the year, organization companies, such as relevant online companies on internet pages, can be preferred to ensure that the Umrah date does not coincide with menstruation. If a woman performs tawaf while menstruating, it is interpreted differently according to Islamic schools of jurisprudence. According to the Hanafi school of jurisprudence, it is forbidden for a woman to perform tawaf while menstruating. According to this school, a woman who performs tawaf during her period must sacrifice a camel or a cow. According to the Shafi'i school of jurisprudence, the tawaf performed is considered invalid.
